Turok2 and Linux
hello,
i ve installed Linux (ubuntu) with dual boot with windows 7 on my computer. It works perfectly.
Now i try to run turok with linux. i ve download "wine" but i dont know how to do. Sebas told me i have to run some turok 2 .dll with wine. But i dont know how to do....
Not sure that someone can help me with linux
(i know that linux isnt popular but its very good and a good alternativ to windows, then it s free lol.)

Re: Turok2 and Linux
Would probably be a question for Digger. Perhaps he'll pick up on thread.

Re: Turok2 and Linux
Wow thats really nice of you azz^^ recommending me..
I made some research and found out that there is no .dll file you have to chose...
Turok multiplayer has no installer file so the best you can do is:
copy the turok files on a directory in your linux partition..
then go command line
cd (turok file directory)
wine turok2.exe
it should be very simple...
Two things you HAVE to keep in mind that you may NEVER install wine on the
windows directory itself AND do not try to run programms from the windows directories..
it may cripple those programms or even the whole windows installation...

Re: Turok2 and Linux
hmmm ... yeah gamespy needs unlimited internet connectivity.. i don´t know how to fix it now...maybe you could google on how to give wine full network permissions....
I´ll let you know when i´ve found something

Re: Turok2 and Linux
There is another option if you want to run Turok on linux.
You can install a virtualbox with windows and copy Turok there.

Re: Turok2 and Linux
Okay funny shit, I actually installed SUSE linux and I was right. Starting the game directly does not work.
Use the command cosole, go to the directory which contains the game, and start turok with wine turok2mp.exe
The ping handle is because of the lack of permissions to write files (which are done by the ping shit) so all you have to do is use SUDO or SU before you open the game and itll work. Ill now try to join a server^^

Re: Turok2 and Linux
im also running xubuntu 14.04lts and experiencing the same issues.
ive tried modifying the exe to allow read/write privileges. but that was a no-go. still have the same ping bullshit....
Avenger is another former player that has been using Linux since day 1. he might even be able to instruct us on how to properly run a server in Linux as well
but no progress thus far. Ubuntu has a tenancy to be buggy with wifi. but it can also be my router.
oh btw i went and obtained PlayOnLinux and its a front end for Wine. its nice, but still doesnt solve the online multiplayer issue with T2 lol. thought id share that little tidbit
i might have to do some more research and possibly write a script for T2 and when i do ill let everyone know and make it available, but dont wait on me if you (or anyone else) can do it too. im in the same position as everyone else lol

Re: Turok2 and Linux
ok so you will most likely have to find an .iso for t2 or use the actual disc to mount it on the virtual drive. of course im using PlayOnLinux, which is just a gui/front end for wine. but nevertheless i havent tried this yet, but that is my next move. i do not have a disc so finding the full iso might be a bit tricky.
i guess having single player wont be too bad. bring back some memories
on another note, being that you will have to mount this image on a virtual drive, means you probably shouldnt have the current multiplayer files in the same directory (derp) and should back them up just in case.

Re: Turok2 and Linux
actually it worked well with vine....just go command console, type sudo wine /turok2/turok2MP.exe and your ready to go...
If you want the Iso, ive got the original german cd
