Post by Birdskiller 18th November 2009, 18:07

I already asked to some of you guys in servers: i have windows7, when i host with firewall on, i have 9999 pings.

Part disable firewall or getting a new one, have you any suggestions? Bas told me to allow port 12080 but it dont work. Also when i make a rule to allow a port, there are tons of protocols listed: tdp, udp, etc...have u idea which one is needed?

The port is 12800 (TCP protocol) and depending on ur network setup u may also need to set ur modem/modem router to "allow pings".

Thanks Lizard; well the thing is that i tried to make a rule for this port/protocol lol, no effect.
Well i made one rule only for "incoming", maybe i need one for "out", i will test.
If firewall is off, i dont have 9999 pings thou, i dont think its due to my router settings then.

Ok it's fixed, not sure anyone minds lol, but in case som1 has same problem one day: you have to allow ICMP echo in windows firewall (thanks for the tip Bad Liz).

In w7, tha means you have to make a new rule, i think it's clearly explained there:

Hello Birds, disable firewall W7, this only controls incoming information.Install another firewall to monitor incoming and outgoing data packet. I use in Windows 7, PC Tools Internet Security free for one year.

Bye.

yes pctools is good too, i used it some time ago.

but about the w7 firewall, if you go to advanced settings, there are inbound and outbound rules, so i think you can control both directions.
