Is a virus scanner the same as a antivirus? If not, could somebody please explain the two for me. Thanks. =]
I don't see much of a difference in what I'm reading, other than it gets called two different things, but it's the same program. Lol. =(

well there are for exemple some online antivirus scanners like panda, only checking if u have virus, not offering permanant protection, unlike antivirus as avast.

I'm talking about something that searches your PC completely for viruses, trojans, worms, etc. Are virus scanners only good to show you what's there, but they don't do anything to get rid of the problem?

it depends, they can solve it or just show thers a virus, then it's up to you to get rid of it.
